A bizarre animal seller proposes a series of fanciful creatures with strange habits, a flamingo that smokes a pipe, a 'slightly tipsy' armadillo, a grumpy porcupine... but nothing satisfies his potential buyer, not even a centipede to take for a walk. Perhaps what he is looking for is not really a pet...

Along with eight other books, Animals for sale is part of the historic Books of '45 series, which Bruno Munaridedicated himself to after the birth of his son Alberto. Books made of die cuts, holes and large, elegant designs that invite a game of discovery and research, leaving everyone hanging on the magic that paper can do.

This series – a timeless classic that in 2025 will celebrate its 80th anniversary since the first edition – has maintained its originality and aims to spark children’s curiosity, showing them that there is always something more inside of something, encouraging them to explore with wonder. Many of these texts were inspired by games and rituals Munari shared with his son Alberto, which he then chose to put on paper. For the joy of all children, and not just them.
