Olimpia Zagnoli (Reggio Emilia, 1984) lives and works in Milan. Immediately after graduating from the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) of Milan, she spent some time in New York, where she made her first contacts in American publishing. The first to intuit her talent was the art director of the “The New York Times” who commissioned an illustration from her.

Following this first prestigious collaboration, other important international newspapers and magazines, among which—“The New Yorker,” “The Guardian,” “The Washington Post,” “Le Monde,” “Marie Claire,” “Vanity Fair,” “Internazionale” and “la Repubblica”—appreciate her essential style, made of sinuous lines, saturated colors and full color fields, able to transmit the essence of the object efficiently.

She has been asked to illustrate for some leading international publishers. In 2014, her illustrated version of the children’s classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (Rockport, 2014) was published. Her unmistakable style draws much of its inspiration from art and design history as well as from pop culture. In addition to working on commission, Olimpia Zagnoli continues her personal and artistic research about creating a dialog between illustration and other expressive forms. Her works have been exhibited in numerous collective exhibitions in Italy and Europe.
